For a personal use lawn mower, it’s tailored to those home owners who might like to think they have their hands on something not a hair short of revolutionary. That the Bosch Rotak 34 Li is lightweight, powered by a lithium ion battery and sports a cool futuristic design which is the proverbial cherry on top.

The Bosch Rotak 34 Li’s ion battery loads right on the front of the mower, where it sits beneath a transparent plastic cover that somewhat resembles a cock pit. The best part of the power system is the energy reroute feature that feeds the kinetic energy of the blade back into the battery immediately after powering down. This is the same nifty principle behind a car’s alternator and how it recharges the battery. The lithium ion’s longevity is measured in cycles and is advertised as having a life between five and ten years, which sounds equal to or better than the life of gas-powered mowers.
The cutting experience of the Bosch Rotak 34 Li lawn mower is rather pleasant, and there are roughly a half-dozen initial settings at which to set the blade. One thing the Rotak 34 Li had a little trouble negotiating was any patches of lawn where the grass was unusually long. The highest setting is best for such areas, with a lower setting on the second pass — and third, if necessary — to keep the grass height flush for that freshly manicured look.
While most petrol powered mowers have the wheels positioned equidistant from each other around the dome that houses the rotary blade, the Bosch Rotak 34 Li’s front wheels are inset. This allows for slightly more coverage up the perimeter of the lawn and in nooks and around flower beds. This doesn’t mean the Rotak will make the weedeater or edger obsolete anytime soon, but any machine that gets the bulk of the task done before fine-tuning with another machine is seldom never a good thing.
If one can afford the slightly high price tag, Bosch’s Rotak 34 Li Cordless Rotary Lawn Mower is more than a suitable replacement for the junky old mower in the tool shed that only fires up half the time. The ease of operation and battery-power operation allows for use by most people. The Bosch Rotak 34 Li cordless lawn mower is lightweight and carries and stores easily — this is not a heavy hunk of metal, Bosch has just rung the bell for its competitors to get in the ring.
